Health & Wellness
I graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from University of Texas at San Antonio with an emphasis on the neurological and biological components of human development and health psychology in 2010. I then graduated with a Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Messiah College in 2014 (a CACREP accredited program) with a unique emphasis on transpersonal psychology (the role of spirituality in the healing and growth process).
I then pursued additional post-master's training to develop my professional repertoire. I am fully trained and certified in Heart-Centered Hypnotherapy by the Wellness Institute. I completed both 12-hour and 40-hour Dialectical Behavior Therapy trainings. I also have additional post-graduate training in trauma-work: specifically working with addicted survivors of trauma, as well as processing trauma through the lenses of body-work, brain theory and neuroscience, and spirituality.
I completed the 200-hour yoga instructor training and certification program at Easton Yoga School. I also trained in the utilization of yoga, mindfulness, and meditation as clinical interventions through the University of Massachusetts Medical School's Center for Mindfulness in Medicine.
I have been a clinical mental health professional since 2010, and master's level clinician since 2013. I have experience providing clinical mental health and substance abuse counseling in inpatient hospital, outpatient clinic, community/home-based , and crisis settings. Prior settings I have worked in as a clinician include: a mental health hospital in both inpatient and community-based settings, a drug and alcohol detox/rehab hospital, a methadone clinic, an LGBT specialty health clinic, as well as Crisis Interventions alongside San Antonio Police Department providing emergency services during suicidal, homicidal, and psychotic crises.
I am currently licensed by the State of Texas as a Professional Counselor and Chemical Dependency Counselor.
Counseling begins by gathering background history and information and finding out what brought you to the healing room at this time; developing a treatment plan designed to meet your specific needs; and then working together to create the shared soulspace needed in order to heal current problems and move towards growth, happiness and wholeness. My foundational approaches to therapy are hypnotherapy and trauma therapy. Depending on what your specific needs and goals are, I interweave eclectic therapeutic techniques drawn from transpersonal psychology, Third-Wave CBT (using mindfulness, meditation, and techniques taken from Eastern psychology), and Dialectical Behavior Therapy.
It would be an honor to take this journey into the self, into your relationships with others, and the realm of Spirit by sharing soulspace with you.
